Five Ways to Promote Your Twitter or Facebook Page Offline

03.01.2010 · Posted in Advertising, Offline
  1. Prominently post a flyer advertising your Twitter and/or Facebook page near the check-out area or entrance/exit.  Make sure you add the name and web URL of your pages.
  2. Put your Twitter handle and Facebook web URL on your business cards.
  3. Word of mouth – mention your Twitter or Facebook page to customers wherever you see them, but especially when they are in your store.  Remind them that they’ll stay on top of all the most up-to-date news if they follow or fan you.
  4. Put your Twitter handle and Facebook web URL on traditional print advertising.  Do you advertise in the newspaper?  On billboards, bus shelters, or park benches?  Do you sponsor a little league team, or support the community theatre by buying advertising in play bills?  Do you advertise on the local high school’s sports calendar?  You can add your Twitter or Facebook information to any of these ad spaces.  Just make sure you’re not crowding your space with too many words, and don’t be afraid to cut a sentence or two to make it work.
  5. Display your Twitter handle on yourself.  That’s right, yourself.  Get t-shirts printed for your employees (and you…and your wife and kids) that say “Follow me on Twitter” followed by your Twitter handle.  Make a sticker to put on the top of your laptop with the same info.  You can even have a pair of shorts made with your Twitter handle on the butt…but hopefully there’s not enough room.
